German classes meet once per week for a 2-hour lesson*. At each level, the program length is 8 weeks. We offer levels 1 to 6 and beyond.

HIGHLIGHTS: Experienced and qualified teachers, structured teaching, communicative approach, and measurable results.

TEXTBOOK: Deutsch: Na Klar!, sixth edition (Mc Graw-Hill). The textbook is not included in the price.

While we use the prescribed textbook throughout the course, the lesson plans exhibit teacher’s experience and the adaptability skills in view of the classroom's changing needs.  We believe that using a textbook yields the best results for beginner and intermediate students. Therefore, it’s advisable to buy the prescribed textbook(s). They also provide explanatory information that may be useful for a questioning adult student and for homework.

German Level 1:
- German pronunciation and alphabet
-Greetings and everyday introductions
-Formal and informal forms of address
-Noun genders and definite/indefinite articles
-Present tense of common verbs
-Basic verb conjugation and sentence structure
-Numbers, counting, and simple calculations
-Telling time, dates, months, and seasons
-Talking about the weather
-Describing people, places, and everyday objects

German Level 2:
- Asking and answering questions
- Talking about family, friends, and daily routines
- Ordering food and interacting in restaurants
- Describing the home and household
- Talking about sports, health, and the body
- Accusative and dative cases in everyday communication
- Modal, irregular, and common strong verbs
- Talking about past events using the present perfect tense
- Introduction to German customs and culture

German Level 3:
- Talking about future plans and goals
- Travel, transportation, and navigating German-speaking countries
- Shopping, money, and everyday financial transactions
- Professions, education, and the workplace
- Holidays, traditions, and cultural celebrations
- Expressing more complex ideas with infinitive constructions
- Using two-way prepositions and location expressions
- Expressing possession with the genitive case
- Da-/Wo- compounds for more natural communication
- Discussing news, current events, and contemporary life across the German-speaking world

Dow, A. is a bilingual English and German speaker with German family background who has lived in Germany. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Umass Lowell. He has studied abroad at Philipps Universität Marburg, Germany. He has taught German Nashoba Regional High School. He is a passionate teacher of German language and culture.
